Baltic Pine glass topped coffee table with magazine rack

Made from kiln dried Baltic pine, the semi circular rails are laminated to provide strength. Halving joints were used at the intersection of leg and rail and the magazine rack stretchers were all turned to 20mm diameter with a 15mm spigot on each end that was received by 15mm diameter holes in legs and rails. The top was 32mm finished thickness and mitred on the corners. The mitres were reinforced with 3 dowels to each mitre and glued together using an aliphatic resin. The glass used was 6 mm thick toughened plate and was received into the top by a rebate The top and the underframe were fixed together using dowels and screws, the screws being lost into a pocket which was then filled with a matching timber pellet. The table was finished natural in colour with 1 coat cellulose sander sealer and 3 coats melamine lacquer, each coat was de-nibbed with 320 grit paper and the final coat of Liberon wax applied with a webbox pad then buffed up with a soft cloth gave the table a nice finish.
