bowl made from off-cuts
Laminated bowl made from off-cut, planed up to a regular thickness and glued together to make a board 560 mm long x 125mm wide by 28 mm thick. This board was then planed to 25mm thickness cut inn half and reversed around to form a board 280 x 250 x 25mm. this was marked out circles using the centre joint as a centre and the maximum radius of 125mm and 2 concentric circles at 25mm less radius than the previous setting. the outer circle is cut with the bandsaw set at 90 deg and the two inner ones cut with the table tilted over to 45 deg. these are then glued together to form ring keeping the joints flat. when these have set then the 3 ring are glued together in a cone shape and pressure applied. when the glue is cured i then mounted the bowl in my cole jaws and turned a spigot on the bottom for my large bowl jaws about 80 mm, the bowl was then turned both inside and out. it was finally reversed back into the cole jaws to finish of the base.
