This project was made from English Oak as the main timber for the table, the leaves on either side were drop leaf supported on hinged lopers, the hinges being self made. The playing surface squares were American black walnut and Sycamore with an Ebony inlay border, the table had two drawers, one from each side passing above and below each other, these were compartmentalized for the storage of the chess pieces. The chess pieces were my own design and were made from Sycamore and Laburnum respectively the tallest piece being about 105mm high.
