Natural edged Laburnum Bowl
Made from a short section of a Laburnum Log, base turned first to provide a recess for dovetail jaws in my scroll chuck and to shape the outside face of the bowl. once it was cleaned up and finished a sander sealer was applied. The bowl was then reversed on the lathe and the inside of the bowl was turned, sanded and cleaned up and a coat of sander sealer was applied. A separate base of maple was turned to fit the recess in the base of the bowl, cleaned and finished with an ebonising stain and finish with a sander sealer. The base was then glued into the bowl with a PVA adhesive, once this was dry the bowl was then given several coats of an acrylic clear satin lacquer.
